If you don't mind very bad language this is interesting as this guy deals with a major stopcock failure of a 38mm head outlet.  I have followed the progress of his renovation of a yacht identical to mine.  He installed plastic valves having removed the original bronze ones which had bad galvanic corrosion.  Go to the post "Details" to get the video link.

It is a salutary tale and just shows, well take a look and you will see. I'm not sure I would install those now!

Trevor has at last pulled his finger out and has been to see a boat. It’s perfect, and exactly fits the requirements, ie something that can be improved/loved, not get too precious over, and a bit racey!

My aim would be to get her up to speed for 2021, and use her as much as possible. If I could not use her I’d open it up to other qualified members of CSC who wanted to use her – a boat needs to be used, not parked.

My “accountant” will only let me do this on the basis of some kind of share, and as long as the boat gets used. I reckon I can buy her for £18,000 so a part share would be a proportion of that…he says obviously.

She is sound, needing some minor repairs around main saloon hatch cover (this is the biggest problem) and comes with an amazing suite of sails, both white and Kevlar. The standing rigging and most of the deck equipment is quite new. I do not think I’ll find anything better. We are also currently negotiating the use of an annual mooring (pontoon) in the Southampton area for £400pa.

Link to the advertisement is below. I need to make a decision fairly quickly, so could/would you mind publicizing these ramblings on-line for me? Anyone interested feel free to ring me at home on 01737 370 411

    Take care all, Trevor

“To help people to get through these testing COVID-19 times, I have created an acupuncture session specifically designed to boost your immune system.

It can be used as a preventative measure that allows you better withstand potential COVID-19 infection or help your body heal quicker after you recovered from the virus. Post COVID-19 recovery symptoms may include cough and sour throat, breathing difficulties, fatigue, insomnia, cognitive issues or digestive problems.

The session can be either at Acupuncture Studio at Worcester Park or at you home address.

You can book your session at

    https://www.allneigong.com/bookings-checkout/immune-system-boosting-acupuncture

Typical price is £95, but for CSC members and their families, there is a special discount: please use coupon code “CSC40” which will reduce the price to £55 per session."

    Many thanks,

    Oleg

As I am sure you are all acutely aware the current Coronavirus pandemic has affected us all.

The committee and myself have taken the very sad decision to effectively cancel the operation of the club whilst the government restrictions are in place.

So with immediate effect all Wednesday evening meetings are cancelled and the talks and social events postponed.  Regrettably, so too are all races and rallies.

If you have signed up for any of the events that are due to take place in the next few weeks, I strongly recommend you contact the "Organiser" who can give you some advice on other possible sailing options, but as far as the Channel Sailing Club (CSC) is concerned these events are no longer going to happen.

Please do keep checking the CSC web site as we will post any relevant information as we receive it, and we will of course send emails out with updates and hopefully we can revive the club later in the year.

    Please do stay safe
