Trevor has at last pulled his finger out and has been to see a boat. It’s perfect, and exactly fits the requirements, ie something that can be improved/loved, not get too precious over, and a bit racey!

My aim would be to get her up to speed for 2021, and use her as much as possible. If I could not use her I’d open it up to other qualified members of CSC who wanted to use her – a boat needs to be used, not parked.

My “accountant” will only let me do this on the basis of some kind of share, and as long as the boat gets used. I reckon I can buy her for £18,000 so a part share would be a proportion of that…he says obviously.

She is sound, needing some minor repairs around main saloon hatch cover (this is the biggest problem) and comes with an amazing suite of sails, both white and Kevlar. The standing rigging and most of the deck equipment is quite new. I do not think I’ll find anything better. We are also currently negotiating the use of an annual mooring (pontoon) in the Southampton area for £400pa.

Link to the advertisement is below. I need to make a decision fairly quickly, so could/would you mind publicizing these ramblings on-line for me? Anyone interested feel free to ring me at home on 01737 370 411

    Take care all, Trevor

“To help people to get through these testing COVID-19 times, I have created an acupuncture session specifically designed to boost your immune system.

It can be used as a preventative measure that allows you better withstand potential COVID-19 infection or help your body heal quicker after you recovered from the virus. Post COVID-19 recovery symptoms may include cough and sour throat, breathing difficulties, fatigue, insomnia, cognitive issues or digestive problems.

The session can be either at Acupuncture Studio at Worcester Park or at you home address.

You can book your session at

Typical price is £95, but for CSC members and their families, there is a special discount: please use coupon code “CSC40” which will reduce the price to £55 per session."

    Many thanks,

As I am sure you are all acutely aware the current Coronavirus pandemic has affected us all.

The committee and myself have taken the very sad decision to effectively cancel the operation of the club whilst the government restrictions are in place.

So with immediate effect all Wednesday evening meetings are cancelled and the talks and social events postponed.  Regrettably, so too are all races and rallies.

If you have signed up for any of the events that are due to take place in the next few weeks, I strongly recommend you contact the "Organiser" who can give you some advice on other possible sailing options, but as far as the Channel Sailing Club (CSC) is concerned these events are no longer going to happen.

Please do keep checking the CSC web site as we will post any relevant information as we receive it, and we will of course send emails out with updates and hopefully we can revive the club later in the year.

    Please do stay safe

    Dick Beddoe

I have been a member of CSC for several years although regrettably rather inactive recently.  In the days of Richard Hart and Bill Cox I used to participate in the Small Boat events, but of late my sailing activities have been limited to family.

Sadly, the time has come to sell Little Lizzie, my ETAP 22i sail number 216 built in 1989, which I have been proud to own since 1993.  It is a great little trailer sailer with a four wheel break back trailer if needed, although I have always kept her at Chichester marina where she is on pontoon H16.  Little Lizzie has been well cared for and has been a lot of fun.

I wonder if any Club members would be interested.  She is in good seaworthy condition, ( 4 berths but ideal for two ) and if anyone is interested I would like her to go to someone who would appreciate her.

White Knight of Wessex is for sale after the FastNet 2019 campaign, so can be yours from mid August 2019.

Current CSC Championship winner, White Knight also won this prestigious trophy in 2016.

White Knight of Wessex is Humphry One Design (HOD) 35 - British designed and built cruiser-racer that is competent in any wind and is equally at home offshore as it is around the cans.

HOD35 are very solid boats that are happy to be raced or cruised. The boat has extensive sail wardrobe, B&G electronics, Raymarine autohelm (capable of holding the boat steady in 30+ kts winds offshore), Eberspacher fuel heating and a new (2 year old) engine (Beta 25 capable of cruising at 6-7kts ) with just over 300 hours. There is plenty of safety equipment that comes with the boat.

Reason for sale is that due to other interests/activities I have no time to sail, hence cannot use the boat as in previous years.

Happy to give some tips and guidance to the new owner(s).

If you have serious interest in owning a fast and reliable boat or know someone who does, please get in touch (07810 522 044).

This month all hosepipes were removed from Royal Clarence Marina under the direction of the water utility company, and their insurers, based on the risk of waterbourne bacteria or washback into the mains water system.

Any how the purpose of the bulletin was to recommend to members LIDL in Gosport (or any other larger LIDL store I guess) they are selling 30 metre retractable hoses which are very good for £21.99 pack up into a small bag with a trigger spray gun .  Very good value and function,  plenty long enough for most marinas.
