How to make it look like you know what you are doing..... .

When new to sailing we all want to blend in and be helpful with the running of the boat.  This presentation is an overview of what happens when sailing and docking and how you can help at those times, even though it might be your first time on the water.  The talk will give tips and tricks on how to look like you have been doing it for years.  It will tell you what to expect when sailing and docking and how to deal with it, especially

  • How to handle the ropes on a boat
  • What the terms are that are important to know
  • What key bits of equipment you need to identify and what they do
  • Your safety, what to look out for
This will be presented by Ken Fifield one of our RYA trainers at the club, who has many sea hours working with novices and showing them the ropes.  He is very approachable and can answer any questions you might have at the end or at the bar afterwards.
